Dominik Sigmund is a software developer, team lead, and trainer who thrives in a diverse IT environment, combining DevOps, AI, and creativity to build software, books, and music.
With over a decade of experience—from his early days as a PHP developer to becoming a passionate advocate for DevOps and AI—he has embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and modernize IT processes.
Since 2020, he has led a small, multidisciplinary team at Bayerischer Rundfunk, supporting the organization in professionalizing its IT landscape. As an IHK-certified trainer since 2015, he enjoys mentoring young professionals, developing engaging training exercises that make software development both accessible and fun.
Beyond his work in IT, Dominik explores the intersection of technology and creativity. He writes books, develops games, and composes music, often leveraging AI as a tool to enhance and accelerate the creative process. His talks and presentations on DevOps, AI, and software development are known for their practical insights, clarity, and focus on real-world applications.
His book AI Field Manual provides a structured approach to integrating AI securely and effectively in IT. Through his projects, he examines both the technical and ethical dimensions of AI, showing how it can amplify creativity rather than replace it. As he puts it:
“KI ist kein Ersatz für Kreativität – sie ist ein Verstärker.”
And sometimes, he relates to a certain passage from Terry Pratchett’s Lords and Ladies:
“And then there’s the thing with the gods and creative gifts. You see, it’s supposed to be spread out. But sometimes it all goes to one person. That’s how a one-in-a-million genius is born. All the sparks light in one place, instead of being distributed. Sometimes it happens with writing. One dwarf somewhere in the Ramtops writes all the poetry for an entire generation.”
Not that he’d claim to be that dwarf—but when inspiration strikes, it certainly feels that way. (With a grateful nod to Sir Terry Pratchett.)
