When Errors Become Stories: The Start of The Glitch in the System

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond the glowing screen? Beyond the lines of code, the firewalls, and the endless streams of data? Most of us don’t. We trust the systems we build, the software we write, and the safeguards we create. But what if those safeguards falter? What if a single overlooked error became the spark for something much larger—and much darker?

That thought has been haunting me for years. I’ve spent a lifetime in IT, witnessing small glitches spiral into colossal disasters, the kinds of stories no one tells but everyone whispers about in quiet corners of server rooms. And then it hit me: what if these real-world technical failures weren’t just mistakes? What if they became something… sinister?

That question was the seed for The Glitch in the System, an anthology of short horror stories inspired by the very faults, errors, and oversights that make IT such a delicate balance between control and chaos. It’s a project born of experience, creativity, and a touch of unease about the systems we trust so blindly.

The first story, The Firewall That Never Closed, is already taking shape. It’s a tale of complacency and paranoia, of a small oversight that snowballs into an unthinkable horror. And as the story unfolds, it’s not just the system breaking—it’s the people within it.

This is just the beginning. The cracks are forming, the darkness is creeping in, and the glitches are becoming more than just errors. As this project unfolds, I’ll be sharing updates, insights, and glimpses into the stories that will keep you looking over your shoulder every time your screen flickers.

Stay tuned. And maybe double-check your firewall settings while you’re at it.
